New Kids on the Block presented star on Hollywood Walk of Fame
New Kids on the Block have proved once again they have the “Right Stuff.” The boy band began their rise to fame in 1984 when they were formed by Maurice Starr. Three decades later the New Kids are finally getting their star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Fox News in Los Angeles reported the event on Thursday with the presentation having taken place a few hours earlier at 1:30 P.M. CST.
There are five members of New Kids on the Block, Danny Wood, Donnie Wahlberg, Joey McIntyre and brothers Jordan and Jonathan Knight. Fans all over the world, also known as “Blockheads,” have stuck by the Boston natives throughout the years and were ecstatic to learn of this great honor they have definitely earned. Their star is the 2,530th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
The boys became famous with such hits as “Hangin’ Tough,” “Please Don’t Go Girl,” and “Step By Step.” They earned the honor of favorite pop band at the 1990 American Music Awards and by 1994 they had sold over 80 million albums. The group still reunites for concerts, the most recent being a short series in Las Vegas this summer. They have also started an annual cruise that they go on with fans each summer.
While all of the boys have remained active in the entertainment world, Donnie Wahlberg has been especially busy. He stars in the hit reality series “Wahlbergers” with the rest of his family, as well as plays an active role in the drama “Blue Bloods.” He took to his Twitter Thursday to post photos of the star presentation. He also addressed fans, his fellow band mates and Maurice Starr. He tweeted, “If we represent the star that’ll forever sit on Hollywood Bl. Then our fans represent the very foundation that star sits in.”
Jordan Knight has also been very busy lately. He has just released a new album with Nick Carter. The duo known as Nick and Knight are currently touring in the United States. Congrats to all of the New Kids on this and all of their amazing accomplishments throughout the years. They continue to surprise and delight fans everywhere.
