New Kids on the Block will tour in the UK later this year.
NEW Kids on the Block will play a gig at Birmingham’s NIA as part of their upcoming European tour.
The reformed 90’s boyband – Jordan and Jonathan Knight, Joey McIntyre, Donnie Wahlberg and Danny Wood – will be at the venue on Saturday, May 31.
Two years on from their hugely successful tour on these shores with fellow Americans Backstreet Boys, the award-winning international pop sensations are poised to make a spectacular return to wow their fans in their most intimate tour in 20 years.
Audiences will be treated to performances of some of the band’s most iconic hits such as You Got It (The Right Stuff), Hangin’ Tough and Please Don’t Go Girl, taking them on a trip down memory lane as well as current hits Single and Remix (I Like The) while getting the chance to be closer to the boys than ever before.
NKOTB were assembled in 1984 by producer Maurice Starr and went on to become one of the biggest boy bands of all time, enjoying huge success in the late 1980s and early 1990s when they sold 80million albums worldwide.
They spit up in 1994, but almost 15 years later were back together with a new album and a global tour in 2008. It sold one million tickets and earned them a place at number 16 on Rolling Stone’s Top 25 Teen Idol Breakout Moments and a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
“We’ve played arenas, and stadiums, all over the world in the last six years. Yet, some of our best concerts have been in the most intimate of venues, where we are closer to our amazing fans,” the band said.
“This tour gives us a chance to have that intimacy with our fans again. To get up close and intimate with the best fans in the world.”
They will also play gigs at the City Hall in Newcastle Upon Tyne (May 23), Royal Concert Hall in Nottingham (May 24), Bord Gais Energy Theatre in Dublin (May 25), Eventim Apollo in London (May 27 and 28), Manchester’s O2 Apollo (May 30) and Clyde Auditorium in Glasgow (June 1).
Tickets for the Birmingham gig at priced from £40 plus booking fee from www.theticketfactory.com or on 0844 338 8000.
